Have you heard?

Have you heard of Lunikk? It's a local band who's music will cost you calories for both hip and brain activity. Anyhoo, one part of the duo is Deni. He's our friend, supporter, colleague and an annoyingly smooth guitarist. He paid us a visit. We exchanged some gear, jokes and hugs. Having guests in our Red Room always refreshes the space and in cases like this hopefully soaks up some talent into the walls for us to squeeze out afterwards. Oh, and Lunikk have a new triple-threat drummer. You'll find out why if you follow them.

Have you heard of SoAlive? It's a showcase festival is Sofia. Have you heard of showcase festivals? We haven't until recently. Basically, important people who can change things bigly for any music act - journalists, booking agents, label and festival reps - come together for a few days, talk about music industry stuff and then listen to bands. In this case from all over South East Europe. We'll be part of it and the organizers were kind enough to brief us on what it takes and what it could give if you do your homework. Being suckers for high grades having grown up in late communist educational systems - we're gearing up to do the homework. Polishing our EPK (Google it if need be, we'll talk about it some other time when we don't have content), online presence, figuring out our goals for the conference, doing the research on the prospective contacts, plan our attendance and prepare mentally to put on a great show. What comes out of it - nothing or much - we'll see and let you know.

Have you heard of beer and döners? This is what we had for dinner during our first fully attended rehearsal of the fall season. If you need a recommendation for the best place in town - DM us. We dusted off some summer brain rot and will be fully ready for the upcoming gigs. Technical issues were few, which is always good. Even the recording setup worked as soon as we'd remembered the laptop password. And I (Schwartz) got my birthday gift! Blessed be the boys. A BOSS EQ-200 Graphic Equalizer. It's already officially a new member of his pedalboard. Just how versatile and powerful it is we'll get to some other time, but suffice to say that it can dramatically change the sound of the amp. It's got space for a bunch of presets and getting the EQ curve just right for your guitar/bass sound. I'll admit that I completely underestimated the amount of issues it can solve, and quickly. It also saved me from having to contemplate switching amps and potentially switching guitars on stage. Looking forward to playing with it. There's no space left on the pedalboard. So this is it. The last pedal ever. Promise. Also, Ali was THIS close to knocking over a beer can over a Marshall head. Another 0.13mm and he'd have seen his stage life pass before his eyes.

Have you heard of a home studio setup? That's what's happening. Ali's got his laptop and soundcard forever. Tony's got his neural and laptop. Kalo's got his entire full-blown sound production studio (the ego!). Orli's a drummer and has a cat. And now I get to set up one in the secret mancave. The kids will love it. By the way, we get most of our gear from Thomann. A very correct team - shout out to them.
